Proposal to lower the age range of The Rydal Academy Nursery to 2-years-old.

The Rydal Academy, part of Swift Academies, is in the process of submitting an application to the Secretary of State to make an age range change.

In line with DfE requirements we are looking to consult with all relevant stakeholders over the proposal to lower the nursery entry age from 3 years to 2 years. The proposal seeks to extend the nursery offer at The Rydal Academy to include the provision of learning for 2-year-olds. This change will have minimal impact on the number of places offered (reducing from 78 places for 3 & 4-year-olds to offer 75 places for 2, 3 & 4-year-olds).

The nursery admissions policy has been updated in line with the proposal (amendments highlighted in yellow) and is attached for your information alongside a list of frequently asked questions.

The consultation will last for a period of 6 weeks, beginning on Monday 4th January 2021.  Comments on the proposed arrangements are welcome up until Monday 15th February 2021 by e-mailing or by writing to Katie Turnbull, The Rydal Academy, Rydal Road, Darlington, DL1 4BH. Comments are not being sought on any area of the arrangements other than the lowering of entry age from 3 years to 2 years.
